How you should vote, Seattle, on Nov 5, 2013

politicsI’m not saying this is how you absolutely need to vote, but I am just saying.  It’s at least how I voted, how’s that?

Initiative 517 – NO – I would eliminate most initiative and referendum ability if I could and certainly am not going to make it easier.

Initiative 522 – NO – we don’t need some weird, partial labeling process. If you want to buy non-GMO food, support those producers who label their food as such.  If you’re so worried about it, don’t buy food without any label.  Let capitalism sort it out.

Advisory Votes 3, 4, 5, 6, and 7 – MAINTAIN them all – I vote and send legislators to represent me.  Let’s stop second guessing every damn law they pass.  If you don’t like how they represent you, vote for someone else.

King County Charter Am. 1 – YES

King County Prop 1 (Medic One funding) – APPROVE

King County Executive – Dow Constantine (although I really wanted to see what Alan Lobdell’s magic billion-dollar hidden industry is.  Clearly a big secret – let’s just elect him and learn, I’m sure he’s figured it all out)

Sheriff – John Urquhart (not that there’s much choice)

Court of Appeals Division 1, District 1, Judge Position 3 – James Verellen (no choice here either..)

Port of Seattle Commissioner Position 1 – John Creighton

Port of Seattle Commissioner Position 2 – Courtney Gregoire

Port of Seattle Commissioner Position 3 – Stephanie Bowman

Port of Seattle Commissioner Position 4 – Tom Albro

City of Seattle Mayor – Ed Murray

City of Seattle City Atty – Pete Holmes

City of Seattle Council Position 2 – Kshama Sawant (I’ve never voted for a socialist before, we’ll see how this goes.. this one was a hard decision for me)

City of Seattle Council Position 4 – Sally Bagshaw

City of Seattle Council Position 6 – Nick Licata

City of Seattle Council Position 8 – Mike O’Brien

City of Seattle Proposed Charter Am. 19 – NO (I want to keep council members city-wide and do the best for city overall, not especially-bound to narrow areas within the city)

City of Seattle Prop 1 (publicly financed council elections) – NO

City of Seattle School District 1 Director District 4 – Suzanne Dale Estey

City of Seattle School District 1 Director District 5 – Stephan Blanford

City of Seattle School District 1 Director District 7 – Betty Patu
